Hey peeps, happy bank holiday monday. So I saw something today, just by chance, you know when your merging onto the motorway and you have a truck doing 56mph (91 km/h, the legal top speed of a truck, they are limited, some are lower by customer request) what do you typically do? Would you speed up to get in front, in a safe manor? If you can’t get in front you slow down to slip behind right? Or do you sit next to them, knowing your going to run out of slip way, and expect the driver of the 44 tonne truck to slow down or move over? If you do the latter your an asshole, just saying. As you approach the motor way the vehicles on the motorway (or some cases the duel carriageway, same difference) the vehicle on the motorway has the “right of way”, meaning they don’t have to move out of your way. That is the rules of the road, also if a truck driver moves over to let someone onto the motorway on their test they will fail their test. That’s true. As the merger you should anticipate whether you can join safely without causing havoc, also if your expecting a 44 tonne truck to slow down for your car, well that’s even more dangerous. It’s more dangerous because it takes a HGV (heavy goods vehicle) 3 or 4 or 5 times faster to regain speed, which then causes traffic behind to either slow down or smash into the back of them.

Don’t get me wrong some people do move over if they have room, but that’s due to the fact they are just overly nice, but they really shouldn’t do it, it is your responsibility to merge safely noone else’s. So learn your highway code before you expect to be king of the road, you are not the only road user, and you definitely aren’t special. I see this a lot with people who are dumb and don’t know how to drive properly. If you don’t know how to merge onto a motorway or duel carriageway then stay the hell off them. Your the dangerous driver.

Also something else that boils my piss is lane hoggers, keep left you imbacils, the middle lane and right lane are for taking over only, they are not there for you to have a leisurely drive. You are a danger, also you are the kind that causes the traffic jam you hate so much when there isn’t even an accident. The ones that are self important and sit in the so called “fast lane” (come on it isn’t a fast lane it’s just another lane that has the same rules as the other 2 lanes max speed of 70mph) your the worse of the worst, I hate it so much when you see a self centred asshole sitting in the 3rd lane when the motorway is empty. Keep left assholes and keep the motorway moving. Also use the little orange light thingys (I don’t know what they called same as you, oh shit yeah thats right they are indicators) to let people know where you are going, people can’t read your mind also even if it looks empty you may not see someone behind you as vehicles have blind spots even your vehicle.

Also a little advice, which works for me every time and also makes you a proper driver, don’t just watch the vehicle in front of you, watch the vehicles 2 or 3 vehicles in front of you. The reason for this is no matter what the vehicle does in front of the vehicle that your following, if the vehicle 2 or 3 cars in front brakes, the vehicle in front of you will brake too, so anticipate this be reacting early, so the vehicle behind you can also do the same. Weyhey you learned a valuable lesson there which I learned too and it works and helps you and others around you. Think about this would you rather brake early and softly or move out the way safely because you can observe your surroundings, or would you rather just react to the car in front and slam your brakes on risking a collision at the front or the back? Try it out mext time your driving watch the vehicles in front of the vehicle your following. Don’t just react to the vehicle in front, react to the vehicles beyond that. Call it seeing into the future, this method is called reading the road and is way more impressive than driving up someones ass.

So anyone travelling through this bank holiday or any other time please be considerate of other road users, and show some respect to others, and definitely above all else show some respect to the truck drivers, who have almost been forgotten about once again after being called heros through all this pandemic. All I can say is don’t be a dick, be respectful and drive safe. Think about this peeps, if you cause an accident your the one most likely to survive, as you have time to react better as an unsuspecting victim (yes I said victim because that is what they will become if you hit them) will not be expecting another vehicle to smash into them so they will not react as someone who is expecting it to come. So they are the ones most likely to die from your stupidity, and not being funny at all but you got to live with that for the rest of your life, and you will get done for manslaughter, which you would deserve. So to end this all I got to say is, don’t think about rushing or being late or just wanting to get somewhere faster by taking risks, THINK about that new born baby in the car next to you or in front (whether they have or haven’t, treat them as though they have) or think about that bus load of school kids, how would you feel if it was someone else causing the death of you kids by taking dumb ass risks to show off to their pals or because they need to be somewhere or they will get in trouble.
