Monday Music, week 8. (The Reader Songs)

This week’s Monday Music received an incredible response from indie artists and readers, with over seventy song submissions sent in for consideration.

Normally, I would include all of these directly within the main blog post. However, I’ve recently had reports that embedding thirty or more tracks can significantly slow down the loading process of the page, particularly on mobile devices. With this week’s submissions more than doubling that number, I’ve decided to move the Reader Songs into their own dedicated post to make sure both blogs remain accessible and easy to load for everyone.

Firstly, a genuine thank you to everyone who got involved this week. Whether you submitted your own work or shared the music of another independent artist, your contributions are what keep Monday Music alive and allow this space to grow.

That being said, I do need to be honest moving forward.

Sorting through over seventy submissions this week has taken me more than two full days of my own free time. I don’t get paid to do this blog. I do it because I genuinely want to support indie artists and help your work reach new ears. I enjoy doing it, it gives me a real sense of satisfaction, and seeing the views, likes, shares and feedback increase each week makes it feel worthwhile.

But I also don’t want to be spending every weekend buried in admin.

So from next week onwards, the recruitment post will only be open for six hours, and I will be stricter with the rules. Anyone who doesn’t follow the submission guidelines may unfortunately be missed out. Not because I don’t want to feature you, but simply because I don’t have the time to chase links, pick tracks from albums, or manage multiple submissions from the same person. I don’t want people taking advantage and just see this as free advertising, what I’m trying to create here goes beyond just a blog post, I want to eventually create a space for all sorts of creators, check the blog above.

This project exists to benefit indie artists. I don’t ask for payment, I don’t charge for inclusion, and all I really ask in return is a bit of appreciation. A thank you, a like, a share, even just giving the blog a view once it’s live. These things cost nothing, but they make a huge difference and help justify the time spent putting this together.

Please don’t see this as a complaint. I’m happy to continue doing this and I’m proud to support your work. I just need to make sure it remains manageable so I can keep doing it properly and I’d appreciate the support back. That being said, I do thank those who have supported me so far, you are all awesome. Also, all of you keep up the awesome work.

With all that said, thank you again for being a part of this, and thank you for allowing me to become a small part of your story.
