Hello to you, amd hello to the New Year.

Some years feel like they kick the door in.

Others creep in quietly while you’re half-asleep on the sofa with cold pizza and whatever that is in your hair.

However this one arrives for you… welcome to it.

Tonight isn’t about promises written in bold capitals.

It isn’t about turning yourself into someone else or pretending the last year didn’t bruise you in places no one saw.

It’s about breathing. Just stopping and taking that deep breath.

About standing in that strange little moment between what was and what might be and letting yourself exist there for a second longer than usual.

The world didn’t magically fix itself at midnight. It never does.

Your problems didn’t evaporate with the fireworks.

But you made it here. And sometimes that is the bravest sentence a human can write.
Maybe this year you’ll change everything.
Maybe you won’t change a damn thing.

Both are allowed.

Just don’t rush past the fact that you’re still here, still trying, still quietly stitching meaning into days that often feel like they were torn apart by life.

So wherever you are reading this, sofa, pub floor, bathroom hiding from small talk, or alone in your car with the radio too loud…

May this one be gentler with you.

And if it isn’t, may you be stronger than you realise.
