THE SANTABLOG SERIES 2025
DAY 3

Press play before you scroll. Let’s get into that Christmas spirit. Not a cheesy advert song, just something that hits you in the chest. Got it? Cool. Let’s do this.
We all grow up thinking miracles are these big dramatic things. Parting seas, burning bushes, angels appearing in the sky, winning the lottery, a life changing moment that shakes the earth beneath your feet.
But the older you get, the more you realise something different.
The real miracles are quiet ones.
Small ones.
The ones nobody ever writes down or takes pictures of.
The ones that happen so subtly, you barely even clock them at the time.
Christmas has a way of making us miss those moments.
We’re distracted by the chaos, the lists, the bills, the pressure to feel festive even when we’re exhausted.
But if you slow down just a little, and pay attention, you’ll see that life is filled with tiny moments of kindness that keep us going, even when we don’t notice them happening.
And that’s what I want Day 3 to be about.
Not the big stuff.
Not the perfectly wrapped gifts or the massive gestures or the magical movie scenes.
But the small things that happen in the background of your life, quietly holding you together.
Because most of the time, those little moments are the reason we make it through the dark days at all.
There are miracles hidden in normal days
Think about your last difficult week.
Think about the days you dragged yourself out of bed when everything in your body said no.
Think about the times you forced yourself into work, into conversations, into taking care of everything and everyone even though your mind felt heavy.
Now think about the tiny things that nudged you forward when you felt like you were slipping backward.
Maybe it was someone at work offering to bringing you a brew unexpectedly.
Maybe it was a stranger letting you out at a busy junction.
Maybe it was your kid saying something daft that made you laugh harder than you wanted to.
Maybe it was someone noticing you didn’t look yourself and asking if you were alright.
Even if you lied and said you were fine, the fact they noticed matters more than you think.
These aren’t accidents.
These aren’t coincidences.
These are the quiet miracles.
No flashing lights.
No choir singing.
No glitter falling from the ceiling.
Just life giving you tiny nudges, reminding you that you aren’t as alone as you feel.
People help you more than you realise
You might think nobody cares.
You might think nobody sees you struggling.
But there are people in your life who look out for you quietly.
Think about the mate who texts you even when you haven’t replied in days.
Think about the neighbour who brings your bin in without saying a word.
Think about the coworker who covers for you when you’re running late.
Think about the person who saved you a seat or saved you the last biscuit, or made room for you even though they didn’t have to.
These things don’t look big, but they keep people afloat.
They keep people going.
They keep people believing that the world still has softness left in it.
And the beauty is…
you’ve done these things for others too.
You’ve held a door.
You’ve made someone laugh.
You’ve listened when someone needed to vent.
You’ve shared a moment of kindness without ever thinking it counted for anything.
But it did.
It always does.
Even Saint Nicholas understood this truth.
Yesterday we talked about Nicholas of Myra, the man who became the spark for Santa Claus.
Everyone remembers the big stories, the dramatic moments, the heroism.
But do you know what his life was actually built on…
It wasn’t just the gold through the window, or feeding whole towns, or stepping in front of corrupt officials.
It was the small moments.
Nicholas spent his entire life doing tiny acts of goodness that history never recorded.
Checking on the sick.
Feeding one hungry child at a time.
Sitting with the grieving.
Making sure widows didn’t go without.
Helping families with debts so small most rich men wouldn’t have cared.
Teaching, comforting, visiting, laughing with people, giving warmth wherever he walked.
Those little things didn’t make the headlines.
But they made all the difference.
We remember the big stories because they’re dramatic.
But Nicholas became Santa because of the small stories.
The ones people didn’t see.
The ones whispered about long after he was gone.
And that’s exactly how kindness works today.
One small act from you might be the thing that helps someone else make it through the day.
You won’t know it, you won’t see it, but it matters.
Most people survive on moments nobody ever sees
We like to pretend we’re strong because we handle everything ourselves.
But the truth is different.
We’re strong because the world gives us tiny lifelines in moments that feel random, but aren’t.
A song playing on the radio at the exact moment you needed it.
A hug that lasted one second longer than normal.
A text at a moment when you felt invisible.
A warm mug between your hands when your thoughts were spiralling.
A memory reminding you that you’ve survived everything so far.
A stranger smiling at you for no reason.
Little things, soft things, human things.
Moments that remind you that the world isn’t always cold and punishing, even when it feels like it is.
The truth is, you’ve witnessed miracles without realising it
Think about the times someone has lifted your mood without knowing you were having a bad day.
Think about the times someone made you laugh when you were trying not to cry.
Think about the times you felt completely alone, and then something small pulled you back from the edge.
Those are miracles.
Not the kind you write books about, but the kind that keep people alive.
And here is the part we all need to take in…
You have been someone’s miracle too.
Without knowing it.
Without planning it.
Without meaning to.
A smile you gave, a joke you cracked, a message you sent, a small act of kindness…
These things land deeper than you think.
Why this matters in December.
Christmas can be loud, chaotic, stressful, and emotional.
For some people it’s the best time of the year.
For others it’s a reminder of everything and everyone they’ve lost.
For many, it’s a season that feels heavy long before it feels magical.
So if you’re struggling right now, don’t wait for a big miracle to arrive.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment or a massive sign.
Look for the small ones.
The tiny moments.
The everyday kindnesses that are already happening around you.
There is softness hiding in the cracks of your day.
There is hope tucked into ordinary moments.
There is light in places you haven’t looked yet.
And sometimes, that is enough to get you through.
A small task for Day 3.
Just for today, notice one quiet miracle.
One small moment that would normally slip past you.
Write it down if you want.
Or just hold it in your mind for a second.
It could be a smell, a smile, a memory, a moment of warmth, or even the relief of getting through something you didn’t think you could handle.
Find that moment.
Let it count.
Let it be enough for today.
Before you wander off, give yourself a second to breathe and take this in.
If you fancy it, come back tomorrow and let me try again to put a thought in your head or a bit of warmth in your day.
One December moment at a time… we’ll get through this together.
