THE SANTABLOG SERIES, DAY 7 (Be someone’s hero today, not their storm)

THE SANTABLOG SERIES

DAY 7

Press play before you start reading, get into that Christmas spirit

Another storm during the run up to Christmas, they becoming a lot more common aren’t they?

Another one just in time to ruin someone’s Christmas, actually pretty shitty to see to be fair. It’s not a malicious attack or anything anyone can avoid, but still something horrible to happen to anyone especially when this month is supposed to be filled with joy and happiness.

Nature is nature though, right? Something we can’t control, a simple pattern the world goes through and one thing the human population can’t control. It is brutal but also beautiful.

The world is full of beauty and brutal tragedy, we watch all this with both shock and awe.

It can cause us, as humans, some terrible times, we see flooding and strong winds that are destroying the places we call home. We see people getting hurt and we feel glad it’s not someone we love but feel so bad at the same time, we are glad it’s not us but feel the pain of the people who it is happening to.

We know it’s ruining some people’s Christmas, even some people’s lives but know there isn’t much we can do to change the outcome. The only thing we can do is come together, help the affected and be there for them when we can. At times like this we see the worst in nature and it’s actually fucking scary at times.

What we also see is people coming together, friends and family, neighbours and complete strangers helping anyone they can just because that is all they can do. A little help of someone you don’t know means the world, a little help is all it takes to restore your fair in humanity when you think all is lost humanity comes together to prove your wrong.

Humanity is in a bad place in recent years and people can be arseholes, am I right? Of course I am, everyone can be an arsehole and people are horrible creatures even at the best of times.

But when tragedy strikes the assholeness becomes heroics, the light at the end of every tunnel is the fact during the worst times humanity have always come together to help their fellow humans. That gives me hope, hope that the future isn’t completely fucked.

For the most part I hate people, not everyone don’t get me wrong but people have a bad history of being selfish and stuck up their own arses, only out for themselves and what they can get out of the world and screw everyone else. Those same people can be a hero in someone else’s eyes and that is beautiful.

All in all the human race is beautiful, we come together and help when it really matters. That reminds me that not all is lost in the world, people are freaking awesome.

Your awesome, yes you.

That all being said, would you rather be the asshole in someone’s story or would you rather be the hero.

You see hundreds of people a day, random people that you may or may not ever see again, even if you did you probably wouldn’t know as noone really takes the time to see random strangers on their walk to or round the shops, or that drive to your friends house. You cross paths with so many random people through out your day and you don’t realise one bit.

Every single one of those people have their own stories but you have also entered their story, even for a little second passing them in the street.

Give them a smile, a smile makes them smile and that smile is contagious.

The version of you in their story is mastered only by the vibes you give out, you could be that one person that smiled and made their day or that one person that stared them down and freaked them out.

You could be the one hero who let them pull out of a junction they have been stuck at for 10 minutes, or you could be that asshole who cut them up causing their stress levels to rise.

Every action you do through your day has consequences, now you may not see those consequences occur but they do. You could ruin someone’s day just by pushing them just that little step closer to making a wrong decision. That person could be right on the edge of doing something they would never have done under different circumstances, would you rather smile or let them out of that junction and defuse a bad day, or would you rather cut someone up just to make yourself feel better at the same time causing someone to snap and go home and argue with their partner, or even worse.

Sounds extreme right? But so damn close to the truth that you wouldn’t realise.

Today be someone’s hero not someone’s storm. Be the person you would rather pass in the street that would make your day feel amazing.

Be a hero, not a storm.
