THE SANTABLOG SERIES

DAY 2

Press play before you start reading, get into that Christmas spirit

Another day closer to one of the best days of the year, are you feeling it yet? Probably not, it never usually kicks in until the last week does it?

Most of the built up to Christmas can be mostly stressful. Hey it’s normal isnt it? I mean everyone wants that day to be special and perfect, an awesome Christmas just helps end the year on a high note. It’s tough to get everything to go your way isn’t it? After all, it’s all about those smiles, especially for the little ones.

BUT THAT NEVER ENDING STRUGGLE IS PERSISTENT.

I mean, at first your struggling to get those last minute presents, there’s always one more gift to get. If you have more than one kid, you always try to spend the same on each one, then you find out you spent a little more on one than the other, so then the hunt for more presents come to try get it even, then it seems like one has more than the other(s), so again more presents are required. It’s endless, but in all honesty they will not notice, I promise, concentrate more of getting what each one wants, save your money and get what they want not some random stuff to even the score, they will appreciate it more.

Trust me, it’s alot less stressful.

I know it’s tough buying for your kids most of all, you know what they want and sometimes what they want is expensive, so to make up for the gift they haven’t got people buy a bulk of stuff to help it seem like more. I mean more is better right?

That’s where your wrong, the more you spend on random stuff, the less chance you get stuff they want. You end up spending more money on random junk they will hardly ever play with when that money could have paid for what they want.

More isn’t always more, sometimes more can mean less than nothing. Ok that may be a little cryptic, take it this way, 100 presents means you have bought more and spent £300 on a bunch of meaningless stuff that will get forgotten about, or you can use that £300 to buy one present that they will adore forever (or at least until the next big thing comes into fashion that is).

BUT, that massive smile and huge hug you receive, along with the “your the best mum/dad in the world, thank you”, means so much more when it’s genuine, don’t you think?

Now, that being said, never ever fall into the trap of Christmas being about the gifts, no matter what you do always make it known and remind your gift takers that Christmas is about love and spending time with each other and also remind yourself too, especially when you just get the socks, it’s the thought that counts ….. and the food, mmm that amazing christmas dinner, the best dinner of the year, am I right?

The biggest stress of all isn’t the gifts or even funding or buying the gifts, or the food, or the annoying responsibility of putting the decorations up (that’s one of the best parts for me)

The most stressful part is the extended family, no not the closest loveable ones. It’s the annoying relatives (yeah we all have them don’t deny it) you know the ones that never really bother with you, the ones that only ever talk to you when you call or message them first, or when they want to know the gossip and drama. The ones that invite themselves over and also the ones who think they are better than you.

Yeah you can name a couple, every single one of you.

That is the joy of Christmas, the satisfaction and chill vibes you get WHEN THEY LEAVE, also knowing you probably won’t hear from them for another whole 12 months, oh the joy, even when they say you should see them more often, you should give them a call or they will call you knowing full well it won’t ever happen, but you go through the motions anyway just to be nice.

Oh, I love Christmas family.

Don’t worry, your not a bad person because they are thinking the exact same thing, oooohh that lovely joy of Christmas (insert evil but funny laugh here).

That is another amazing feeling, everyone is the same in so so many aspects, but those times also help you appreciate the ones closest to you, knowing you don’t have to be fake, knowing you can be true to your word as you know they will be the same.

Isn’t Christmas just the most amazing, awesome, funny and weird time of the year. Enjoy every second of it, even the bad parts, most of all the bad parts.

Enjoy the bad parts of Christmas, they make the good parts better.
