THE SANTABLOG SERIES.

Take a step into Christmas, with only 18 days to go, it’s getting closer.
I love that feeling, every day as we get closer to Christmas it feels more magical, each day brings more and more Christmas songs on the radio which is nice at work.
It’s not the gifts that I’m excited about, it’s the fact that everyone starts letting life chill, everyone has the same feelings of excitement even if they don’t have the same feelings they used too as a kid.
It’s hard to explain but people become nicer, more helpful and you see more smiles and people begin to notnlet things get to them like they do throughout the rest of the year.
It’s weird really when you think about it, but people’s attitudes really do change as we head into Christmas.
Just the excitement and joy people get as we edge closer day by day, usually only felt when you have a few holidays off work coming up.
Even though life gets more hectic, and people start stressing and rushing about to get ready, the excitement and adrenaline rush just escapes now and then to bring little pockets of joy and happiness.
It’s weird how just one day can change people and their attutude to life, isn’t it?
For some people it’s the most important day of the year, so much effort goes into Christmas, so much organisation goes into that one day, some people prepare all year round, buying gifts in the boxing day or new year sales, some save money so it’s a little less expensive, some even stock up food.
My mum and step dad stock up on teabags. They are proper tea drinkers.
This comes from years ago, you know when shops closed over the Christmas period, they would close Christmas eve and not open again until the day after new years day.
It’s shocking how much has changed over a short period of time.
The streets used to be quiet and empty Christmas day, noone really left their house unless they popped round friends or family, now you get stuck in traffic driving down the road.
Black Friday used to be 1 day, on a Friday of all days, now it’s a week long, even a month long in some places.
It’s crazy how comercialised christmas has become, and people wander why it’s all about spending money and giving and receiving gifts.
People have forgotten the true value of Christmas, and it’s a shame really. It should be about that quality time and catching up with your people.
During these hard times though, that is becoming more popular, the more people struggle to pay for shit the more they start to value real values of life.
For me though, it’s never been about the gifts, for me it’s always been about seeing that smile on my mum and step dads face, also on my brothers faces too along with the rest of my family.
More so now, its about seeing that smile on my kids faces, and seeing other people smile.
Now that’s the value I love most.
