The english language, so complicated but so common, even my son corrected me.

Hey peeps, happy friday. Once again its almost the weekend.

I hope your week has been awesome, mines not been too bad.

So today I’ve had some time with my son before work, he asked me something and put me in my place good and proper.

There was a little poundland near me that closed down (as you know he’s obsessed with shops, well more so buildings) and he asked if someone had baught the little shop since we saw it last. Well I said I don’t know, he asked to have a look so off we go.

He then asked me “do you think it’s still closed down daddy?”, my reply was “maybe, yeah”, ok so here’s the funny part, lil man said “you can’t say that daddy, maybe and yes are different answers, you can’t use them together”, well that told me didn’t it?

It comes to something when your kid tells you how to speak properly doesn’t it? Bless him.

That’s the thing with the english language, you can say something that you think makes sense and in reality your contradicting yourself.

The english language is the most spoken language across the world, but its also the most difficult to learn. Personally I can only speak my home tongue, I’ve never learned another language, I’m not clever enough. There are people out there that learn the english language and I think that is amazing.

You see the English language is so complicated, a lot of words mean the same thing, but a lot of words can mean many things, then you have words that sound the same but are pronounced differently.

You have there,their and they’re.

Also words like live, that word is one word with 2 meanings.

Also the English language is the international language, did you know that all air traffic controllers speak English all across the world? Well it’s no good if air traffic controllers speak English here then speak french

67 countries recognise English as the official language.

The english language is so hard to learn because even in Britain there are so many different dialects that we can’t even understand each other half the time, so I say fair play to all these people who speak English as their second language. Most of you can speak it better than us brits.

Anyway I’ll stop talking shit, and get my ass to work. I’ll elaborate further in a future blog.
